“Quotes about love” is a regular feature in my blog. There are so many wonderfully romantic pieces written by the usual suspects and also by lesser known or unlikely authors. Here are some love quotes that you might not have seen before. Try them out as a love note or card to the love of your life or use them in your wedding ceremony. I send my love to all of you!
“It was the best first kiss in the history of first kisses. It was as sweet as sugar. And it was warm, as warm as pie. The whole world opened up and I fell inside. I don’t know where I was, but I didn’t care. I didn’t care because the only person who mattered was there with me.”
― Sarah Addison Allen, The Sugar Queen
“Love is not something you think about, it is a state in which you dwell”
― Christopher Moore
“Love is eternal — the aspect may change, but not the essence. There is the same difference in a person before and after he is in love as there is in an unlighted lamp and one that is burning. The lamp was there and was a good lamp, but now it is shedding light too, and that is its real function.”
― Vincent van Gogh
“There was nowhere I could go that wouldn’t be you.”
― Jeffrey Eugenides, Middlesex
“Love is friendship set to music.”
― Jackson Pollock
“If we discovered that we had only five minutes left to say all that we wanted to say, every telephone booth would be occupied by people calling other people to stammer that they loved them.”
― Christopher Morley
(Even though there are barely any telephone booths left, I couldn’t resist including this quote).
“Some people you meet and they’re your friend for a day. Some you meet and you never really know at all. And then there are those who get caught inside your soul and stay there forever.”
― Melodie Ramone, After Forever Ends
“Love is a drama of contradictions.”
― Franz Kafka
“All she had needed was the certainty of his love, and his reassurance that there was no hurry when a lifetime lay ahead of them.”
― Ian McEwan, On Chesil Beach
“Don’t let love interfere with your appetite.
It never does with mine.”
― Anthony Trollope
“You were born together, and together you shall be for evermore…But let there be spaces in your togetherness…Love one another, but make not a bond of love. Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not of the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.”
― Khalil Gibran
“It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love, it matters only that you love”
― John Lennon
