Each year I make a trip to Macy’s Flower Show in New York City in early spring. It is usually too cold out to feel like spring so I am more than happy to see an abundance of flowers inside. Macy’s puts its main floor into full bloom with all of my favorite flowers as well as unusual flora. I love to wander around and look at the displays and I always take many pictures—some that will certainly be highlighted in future Flower Fridays. If you live nearby, plan to go next year’s show. If you live elsewhere, find an indoor garden show to immerse yourself in the wonderful color and scent of flowers.
Flowers

for my mother
They are fleeting.
They are fragile.
They require
little water.
They’ll surprise you.
They’ll remind you
that they aren’t
and they are you.
